About this site, how it’s built and other geeky stuff.

This is how I build all my client sites: better for speed, technical optimisation, on-page SEO and content management.

I don’t use anything off-the-shelf in my work; it’s lazy, and your site will end up like everyone else’s.

The branding and site design was created by me.

I use Azo Sans, a font from Adobe fonts.

I also use Font Awesome on this site, which is loaded via the Font Awesome CDN as SVGs.

The logo uses a font called Dave, which I designed (it’s my handwriting).

This site uses my theme, which I have developed and improved since 2018 with my expert team of developers at my agency, Toast.

It’s a bare-bones theme built using CSS Grid and custom ACF blocks for all content.

Gutenberg is used, but all the default blocks are disabled as they chuck out too much code and CSS.

I use a range of plugins on this site, some free, some paid.

There are also several plugins installed that I have developed with my team that ship with our theme.

This site is hosted on a Siteground Cloud hosting server using data centres in London.

The sites are built to focus as much on content management as on design, build, and optimisation.

My theory is that the easier a site is to use on the back end, the more likely my clients are to use the site and publish content more regularly.

Too many sites look great on the front end but are overly complex to use for the people they are built for.

I use custom content blocks designed specifically for my client’s content.

This site went live on the 20th of October, 2024.

It took 32 hours to plan, design, write and build this site.
